Following the Iron

How the P180 process turns iron ore concentrate and natural gas into hot briquetted iron and useful carbon in one plant, with the iron making its own hydrogen along the way. Press Start here for a short introduction, then open a chapter from the map. Each chapter can be watched with narration or stepped through at your own pace, and brings you back to the map when it ends.

Illustrated bird's-eye view of a P180 iron plant beside a lake in the boreal forest: a train of red-brown iron ore concentrate unloads at a covered shed beside a white plant building; a conveyor carries micro-pellets to two tall reactors, one with a blue band and one with an amber band, joined by a blue hydrogen pipe loop; an amber natural gas pipeline runs into the second reactor; a press building feeds grey briquettes to a covered stockpile and to rail cars; a silo and a truck stand at the back.
